This is when the light is actually pointed at the ceiling rather than the floor. Up-lights are situated above the fan and provide a much softer light than lights that are focused downwards.

A ceiling-fan light is a convenient addition to a fan. All types of ceiling-fan lights are good at illuminating rooms while saving space.
